Zoya Hudson

Saturday, May 31, 2014

Hello again! Seems that I am on a bit of a Zoya kick lately. What can I say? They have beautiful polish and frequent sales. :) Zoya Hudson is a recent release from their spring 2014 line. Hudson is a cool toned lavender with tons of silver shimmer. If you are familiar with Zoya Stevie, I think of Hudson as its non-textured sister. I am showing 2 coats with top coat.

Zoya Hudson

Formula was smooth and I had no issues with it. I love how bright and shiny this shade is. While it did not seem like the most unique shade, I had a hard time finding something close to it in my current collection.

I had to take these pics on my camera phone because my regular camera was not getting the right shade. So if these look a little blurrier than usual, that's the reason. Overall I like Hudson a lot. It's very girly and pretty but the silver gives it a fun edge.

Zoya Chyna

Wednesday, May 28, 2014

Hi, guys. I hope you all had a nice long weekend. I had a good weekend and that extra day off was just awesome. I feel so refreshed and not tired. I really wish every week was a 4 day work week. One can dream. Today I have one of the classic Zoya Pixie Dust polishes. Chyna was one of the original Pixie Dusts if I remember correctly. I did not manage to snag it when it first came out by fixed that with my Zoya Earth Day order.

Zoya Chyna

Chyna is a beautiful and deep cherry red polish with tons of red and silver glitter. This is a textured polish so it dries matte. The formula was thick (like most textures) but not problematic. It was very pigmented and the glitter payoff is fantastic. These swatches are 2 coats over base coat and no top coat.

Zoya Chyna

I don't usually put top coat on my textured polishes since I like their intended finish, but I have a feeling that this one would be really pretty with some top coat on it.

Zoya Chyna

This is a winner for me and I am glad to finally own it. I love all of the Pixie Dusts I've tried so far though I have not had the chance to try the Magical Pixie Dusts yet. Not sure if they'll be too chunky for me but I should pick one up the next time I place a Zoya order.

That's it for me. Hope you're having a wonderful week so far!

Stashed (17): OPI, Zoya, Orly

Sunday, May 25, 2014

Hello, everyone! I've been meaning to post this Stashed entry for a couple of weeks now but haven't had the time. This is a holiday weekend though so I am finally getting a little more free time to post. I hope to edit some photos this weekend, too, so that I can schedule some posts for next week. I did buy a few fun things in the last few weeks. I am still on a low buy though so I have purposely been avoiding places where I might be tempted by buy polish.

First purchase was this limited edition mini set of Liquid Sands that OPI did for the Brazil collection. I wasn't going to get this initially but saw some pretty swatches up on a few blogs and it was as steal for $5.99.

This is my Zoya Earth Day promo haul (I know, ages ago) along with one polish from Orly's Baked collection. Sorry I am too lazy to look up specific names right now but if you want to know, leave a comment and I'll look it up.

This little stash is from a friend who was cleaning out her nail polish box. She has one shoebox with nail polish in it and wanted to clean it out and offered me what she did not want. There was more than this but I gave those away and kept just what I really wanted. There's a fun OPI Hey Get in Lime! in there as well as Linkin Park After Dark Suede. A couple of the Ultra brand polishes looked fun so I kept those as well.

I actually haven't had a chance to paint my nails for the last couple of weeks and my toes are naked (gasp!). Hoping to at least give myself a pedicure though this weekend. Hope you are all enjoying the longer weekend!

Rimmel London Sherbet Sweetheart

Tuesday, May 13, 2014

Hello! I am back again today with another polish from the Rimmel London Sweetie Crush collection. Today's polish is Rimmel London Sherbet Sweetheart, a pretty, pale yellow with gold shimmer. I picked up this polish because I don't have too many gold/yellow textured polishes. I have a couple of the Zoyas but this one was much more yellow vs gold and I wanted to try it out. No issues on formula and I did 3 thin coats here for full coverage.

The glitter in this one was slightly chunkier than the glitter for the other shade in the collection that I have. I liked this one a lot. It's pretty unique in my collection and the gold shimmer was easy to see. I don't wear yellow too often but this is a fun twist on it. It's a very pale yellow so I think it blends in a bit with my skintone. It would look fabulous on really dark skin but may be too light for paler tones.

If I remember correctly, there were 6 colors in this collection. If you like textured polishes and don't have similar shades, I would definitely recommend these. They are incredibly inexpensive, too, which is always nice. The Sweetie Crush collection should be in stores now, so get it while you can. :)

Orly Hot Tropics

Thursday, May 8, 2014

Hi, guys. I am kind of excited about today's polish because I love it. I purchased Orly Hot Tropics about a week ago and wore it all last week. The color is amazing and wore like iron. Hot Tropics is from Orly's new summer Baked collection. I bought pretty much all of the purples from this collection. Hot Tropics is a very red-based purple with amazing shimmer. As you can see below, the shimmer is not hidden at all. I did 2 coats to get the coverage below and topped with Out the Door top coat, which I've never tried before. I am liking it though this manicure wore for almost a whole week without any issues before I took it off.

I was having a really hard time capturing the color on my digital camera, so I ended up taking these with my phone. This reminds me a lot of Essie Perky Purple (or its dupe Zoya Charisma), which is one of my most favorite nail polish shades ever. Hot Tropics has shimmer though which makes it a special one in my collection.

Love, love, love this polish so much. Fantastic color and formula that is perfect for summer. I am excited to try the other shade I bought from this collection and am thinking about picking up a couple more the next time I see them. Have you tried any shades from the Baked collection yet?

Rimmel London Violet Sizzle

Hi, everyone! Wow this week is just flying by. I can't believe that it's Thursday already. Have any good plans for the weekend? I am not doing anything too exciting except for one book signing, which should be fun. We've been having really warm weather where I am, which makes me want to bust out all of my summer brights. Before I do though. I have a few spring things to show you. Up today is Rimmel London Violet Sizzle which is part of their Sweetie Crush collection. This is a textured polish collection and I just stumbled upon it a couple of weeks ago while at Walgreens. The shades were not super unique so I only picked up the two that interested me the most.

Rimmel Violet Sizzle

Violet Sizzle is a pale, silvery lilac with tons of shimmer. It has a very even finish and reminds me a lot of Zoya Stevie, though I think it might be a little lighter. Formula was good and I had not problems with it. Shown is two coats with no top coat.

While I think this is pretty, I don't know if it looks great on my skin tone. I think it looks a little washed out though it would probably look great on darker skin. I liked the texture a lot as it was even and not too bumpy. If you like this sort of finish, you may like this one. I think it cost less than $2, too, so it's a good alternative if you want to try something trendy and not invest too much money into it.

The other shade I bought was a yellow, which I'll be posting later this week. Hope you guys liked this one. Let me know what you think of it in the comments below. :)

L'Oreal Some Like It Chunky

Thursday, May 1, 2014

Hello, hello. Thanks for coming by today. This morning I have a really unique polish to show you. L'Oreal Some Like It Chunky is a burnished gold/almost copper shade with subtle pink shimmer and silver hex glitter. This is a textured polish and is meant to be worn without top coat. Some Like It Chunky came out earlier this year as part of the Gold Dust collection. I wrote in my notes that the polish name sounds like a Flo Rida song. Ha.

L'Oreal I Like It Chunky

Some Like It Chunky had a smooth formula and it was really easy to work with. I love how it looks matte. The texture is really uniform and I didn't have any snagging issues. 2 coats was all it took to get the luxe look above.

The Gold Dust was originally a limited collection but L'Oreal smartly added it to their current core display. I really like this one. Love how glittery it is and it's a unique shade in my collection. What do you guys think of this one? Did you pick up any others from this line? :)
